Open up your phone, go to your music app, and click on your most frequently played songs list. What kind of music shows up on that playlist? Have you listened to every song Carly Rae Jepsen has ever released a dozen times, or is your playlist filled with arias and requiems?

Most of us have a ready answer to the question, “What is your favorite band?” and we often choose to rep the artists who speak to us most. But it turns out which bands you have bumper stickers for may say a lot about you as a person. Read on to learn what your music taste says about you.

Heavy Metal

Do you have a Slayer or Megadeth sticker on the back of your ride? How many times this week have people stopped next to you at intersections watched with worry as you headbanged your way through a Black Sabbath song? If you’re a die-hard metalhead, we’ve got your number: you’re a giant teddy bear who just wants love.

You’re the kind of person who wants your surroundings to elevate you. You’re introverted, but you’re very happy with who you are, and why shouldn’t you be? You’re probably a high earner, you’re kind to the environment, and if you have a bumper sticker on the back of your hybrid car, it’s probably a time signature.

Rock and Roll

If you’re driving a 1967 Chevy Impala all the way down the highway to hell, you may not want to spoil your baby with a bumper sticker. Are Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, Ariana Grande, and Ke$ha on your most-played list? Is your bumper covered in stickers for U2, Maroon 5, Panic! at the Disco, and Imagine Dragons? You’re the kind of person who loves nothing more than tossing a few back to calm the nerves and then dancing the night away!

Pop fans tend to be outgoing, rocking out to your favorite songs over and over and living your best life. You tend to worry a lot about things, but when the music comes on, those worries melt away. Creative pursuits aren’t really your forte; you’d rather be out with your friends celebrating la vida loca.

Hip Hop

As the songs often say, you don’t find much need for the newer, ever-changing ideas of the world. You can get along with almost anybody, but once they’re gone, you’d just as soon get back to your music and life.
